How to run a padel league with friends

A friends’ league table in Padelbang

A league is the best way to get your padel group playing every week with something at stake. Run well, it lasts for months and everybody gets hooked. Here are the steps.

1. Choose the format

  • Fixed-pair league: each pair plays every other pair. Ideal if you already have regular partners.
  • Individual league with rotating partners: each round is a small Americano and points add up in an individual table. The most social format.
  • League by levels: two or three groups (gold, silver, bronze) with promotion and relegation at the end of each phase.

2. Make the fixtures

With fixed pairs, use a round-robin schedule: 6 pairs gives 5 rounds per half. Set a deadline per round (say, Sunday each week) and let one of the two pairs book each match.

3. Decide the scoring

Result League points
Win 3
Loss (played) 1
No-show 0

For ties in the table, look at head to head first, then game difference.

4. Keep results in one place

A group chat for messages and a single table for results: that way nobody argues. If the league is played as an Americano, our generator works out the standings and gives you a link and a picture to share.

5. Keep it alive

  • A weekly round-up with the table and a story or two.
  • A prize at the end of the season (even if it is just dinner).
  • Rearranged matches with a date: if people stop playing, the league dies.

The league on your phone too

In Padelbang you can create a private league for your padel group: share a code in the group chat, everyone plays their matches when they can against an AI that copies each friend’s playing style, and the table updates for everyone. A way to keep competing midweek, even with no court.

Frequently asked questions

How many players do you need for a league?

With 4 people you can already run an individual league with rotating partners. For a fixed-pair league, 6 to 10 pairs is ideal.

How is a padel league scored?

Most often 3 points for a win, 1 for a played loss and 0 for a no-show. You can also use game difference to break ties.

What if someone cannot play their match?

Set a deadline for each round. If the match is not played, it goes down as a loss for whoever did not turn up, or for both if nobody rearranged it.

Can the league live on your phone?

Yes. In Padelbang you can create a league for your group, share a code and play each round against the AI that plays like each of your friends.
